Prime Contractor

For Prime Contractors, a Preliminary Notice to owner of their right to file a lien is required before receiving any form of payment from the owner of the property. A Notice of Intent to Lien is required within 20 days before the liens’  filing date.

Sub/Laborer

For Subcontractors and Laborers, a Preliminary Notice to owner and to prime contractor of their right to file a lien is required to be provided within 30 days after the first day labor or materials were provided on a project. A Notice of Intent to Lien is required within 20 days before the liens’ filing date.

Supplier/Other

For Suppliers and Others, a Preliminary Notice to owner and to prime contractor of their right to file a lien is required to be provided within 30 days after the first day labor or materials were provided on a project. A Notice of Intent to Lien is required within 20 days before the liens’ filing date.
