Prime Contractor

For Prime Contractors, a Mechanics Lien must be filed within 60 days from the projects’ completion date. Enforcement of the lien must take place within 1 year of the liens’ filing date.

Sub/Laborer

For Subcontractors and Laborers, a Mechanics Lien is required to be filed within 60 days from the projects’ completion date. The time period to file is shortened to 30 days if the owner of the property or Prime Contractor files a notice of substantial completion. Enforcement of the lien must take place within 1 year of the lien’s filing date.

Supplier/Other

For Suppliers and Others, a Mechanics Lien is required to be filed within 60 days from the projects’ completion date.
