Prime Contractor

For Prime Contractors, it is optional to provide a Notice of Commencement to the owner of the property. This must be served within 30 days after the start of the project. A Location Notice however is required to be posted on the project site.

Sub/Laborer

For Subcontractors ad Laborers, if the Prime Contractor filed and posted a Notice of Commencement on the project site, then sub-subcontractors and suppliers are required to provide a preliminary notice to both the Prime Contractor and the owner of the property within 60 days of the last day labor or materials were provided on the project.

Supplier/Other

For Suppliers and Others, if the Prime Contractor filed and posted a Notice of Commencement on the project site, then sub-subcontractors and suppliers are required to provide a preliminary notice to both the Prime Contractor and the owner of the property within 60 days of the last day labor or materials were provided on the project.
